The museum’s 2026 Pride programme
Manchester Wire’s 21 August 2026 preview advertised a Pride programme at the Science and Industry Museum for 24–31 August 2026. The museum’s original programme link now leads to its general listings, so the dated preview supplies the historical event details here.
The advertised mix included volunteer talks about Alan Turing, newly displayed objects and paper-weaving activities. Displays alongside the Manchester Baby computer included a rainbow portrait of Turing and a £50 note bearing his image.
The preview also announced a special Get Curious session with the University of Manchester on 29 August. Activities explored quantum science through code-breaking, a spinning thaumatrope and a scientist-identification challenge.
Choose the part that suits your visit
This was a museum programme rather than a parade or late-night party. It offered different ways into the subject: listening to a talk, looking closely at objects, or making something yourself.
For a similar future visit, decide which activity matters most before arranging the rest of the day. Someone interested in Turing’s legacy may want a different plan from a family coming mainly for a creative session.
Keep time for the wider collection instead of trying to fit every activity into one stop. If friends separate, agree where to meet again. Save the museum address rather than relying on the event name in a map search.
Price, booking and age guidance
The museum’s current visitor information offers free general admission with advance booking. Use that official booking route for a normal museum visit; the August 2026 programme has finished.
Get Curious’s current page describes a free activity recommended for ages seven and older. That is a recommendation for the series, rather than a published age restriction covering every 2026 Pride activity.
The dated preview advertised paper weaving from 28–31 August, between 10am and 4pm. It did not publish a separate workshop charge or a universal minimum age. Ask the museum about any future session’s conditions before planning around it.
Stations, trams and the free bus
The museum’s travel page gives the address as Liverpool Road, Manchester, M3 4FP. It identifies Deansgate as the nearest railway station and Deansgate–Castlefield as the nearest Metrolink stop.
The same page lists free city-centre bus Route 1, with a stop on Lower Byrom Street outside the museum. It also describes using that bus from Manchester Piccadilly. Check the route for your travel date, especially around Pride road closures.
Choose the rail connection that works for the whole journey, not simply the smallest gap on a city map. Save the return departure and the route back to its station before leaving for the museum.
Planning a comfortable museum day
The museum’s current listings flag restoration work and some building closures. Check the official programme and visitor information before deciding which collections to combine with a visit. An old event description does not guarantee that every building is currently open.
If you need a particular access arrangement, ask about the activity as well as the building. A talk and a moving workshop can make different demands. Explain whether seating, a hearing arrangement or a quieter arrival is most important.
For the wider city celebration, use our Manchester Pride guide. It separates the city’s Pride arrangements from this museum programme and helps with the journey home.

Will it return in 2027?
No 2027 Pride programme has been announced on the museum pages checked for this guide. The 2026 activities should be treated as a past programme, not an itinerary for next summer.
