Decolonial Love x Design: June 2026
V&A Dundee’s Pride event page advertised Decolonial Love x Design for Friday 12 June, from 3pm to 7pm. The dated Design Dundee listing identifies the year as 2026.
The programme brought LGBTQ+ design histories into an afternoon of tours, conversation and making. It included Lavender Labels tours, a workshop with Norma Mogrovejo Aquise, zine-making with the Young People’s Collective, and a DJ session with mocktails.
Tours connected the Scottish Design Galleries with the Design and Disability exhibition. This was a specific Pride programme at the design museum, not a ticket for Dundee’s main outdoor Pride celebration.
Choose a tour, workshop or social finish
The appeal was the choice of ways to participate. You could follow objects and their stories, work on a handmade booklet, or come for a discussion. Those experiences make different demands on your time and attention.
For a similar event, choose your priority before adding another session. Someone who wants to hear a complete conversation should avoid scheduling a competing tour. Friends can make different choices and still arrange to meet afterwards.
If you try zine-making, think about a small subject you want to explore rather than a polished finished product. A memory, question or collection of words can give you a starting point without needing specialist design skills.
Free booking and the age rule
The museum described the 2026 event as free, with booking required and session choices made when reserving a ticket. Its published rule was that participants must be over 16. Do not substitute the museum’s general family admission arrangements for that event condition.
A quiet space in Robertson Studio was advertised for the event. That was a named provision for the 2026 afternoon. Ask about arrangements for a later programme instead of assuming the same room will always be available.
Use the booking link on the museum’s event page for the historical listing. For a new visit, start with the current programme and check whether sessions have separate reservations. Keep any selected session times with your confirmation.
Dundee station, buses and the waterfront
V&A Dundee’s visitor page gives the museum address as 1 Riverside Esplanade, Dundee, DD1 4EZ. The waterfront address is the destination to save when checking your final connection.
The museum’s access information identifies Dundee railway station nearby and says multiple bus routes stop close to the museum. It specifically mentions Ember services from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Check the operator for the right service and stop on your travel date.
For a day trip, plan the return alongside your outward journey. A train arrival and an intercity bus arrival can leave you in different places. If travelling with friends, agree the actual station or stop rather than simply saying “meet in Dundee”.
Access, breaks and the wider museum
The official access page describes a step-free main entrance and step-free access through the building. It also explains wheelchair loans and seating. Contact the museum about the activity you intend to join if you need a particular arrangement.
An open gallery and a timed workshop are different experiences. Ask about the route, seating and any quieter waiting option before you reserve a place. Explain what would make the session workable, rather than relying on a general description.
General museum admission is free, while some exhibitions and events need paid tickets. Keep ordinary admission and special-event access separate when planning a later visit. The terms of the 2026 Pride afternoon should not be applied to another exhibition.

Looking towards 2027
No 2027 edition of this Pride event has been announced on the museum pages checked for this guide. Confirm any new programme before booking a non-refundable stay.
If you are combining the museum with the city celebration, our Dundee Pride guide covers that separate event. Match the dates carefully: a museum Pride programme need not happen on the same day as a parade.
