Love is Enough: the 2026 Family Day
William Morris Gallery’s event page advertised a Family Day for Pride on 11 July 2026. Called Love is Enough, it was part of Waltham Forest Pride and was scheduled at Vestry House Museum while the gallery was being renovated.
Storyteller Luke Saydon was to lead an original story about authenticity and self-love. The advertised activities combined storytelling, movement and creative play, followed by self-portraits for a shared artwork.
The off-site venue is important. The gallery’s normal Lloyd Park address was not the entrance for this event. It was a separately booked family activity at Vestry House, not general entry to either museum’s full collection.
Who the activity was for
The gallery aimed the activity at children aged five to twelve, while welcoming the whole family. All children needed an accompanying adult. LGBTQIA+ families, friends and allies were welcome.
When choosing a similar family event, start with what your child enjoys. A storytelling session may suit someone who likes listening and joining in, while the making activity offers another way to participate.
Talk through the plan before arriving: where you are going, which adults are coming, and whether the booking includes a particular session. Avoid promising access to galleries or gardens unless the host explicitly includes them.
Price, booking and the right entrance
The 2026 activity was free, with advance booking required for each child and adult. Sessions were advertised at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Entry was through the Church Path gate, with no access to the rest of Vestry House Museum.
The host described limited space without a waiting area, and asked visitors to arrive about five minutes before their session. Those instructions belonged to the named 2026 event; check a new booking for its own arrival arrangements.
Use the gallery’s official event page to understand the historical offer. If a future version is announced, follow its fresh booking link rather than assuming the old session choices remain available.
Stations and buses for Vestry House
The museum’s visitor information gives the address as Vestry Road, Walthamstow, London E17 9NH. It identifies Walthamstow Central as the rail, Underground and bus arrival point, with Queens Road station as another option.
The same page places the museum a walk from those arrivals. Use the current route for your own party, especially with a buggy or someone who needs a step-free approach. Check the exact entrance named on the event booking.
For buses, plan to Walthamstow Central’s bus interchange and then confirm the onward route to Vestry House. A stop near William Morris Gallery is not automatically the right stop for an off-site event in the village.
A special opening during redevelopment
Waltham Forest Council’s redevelopment page describes the museum’s temporary closure. The museum’s own visitor page now gives a planned spring 2027 reopening. That is a building update, not an announcement of a 2027 Pride event.
Check current visiting information before arranging a separate museum outing. The special 2026 Family Day should not be used as evidence that the rest of the museum was open to walk-in visitors.
For families needing access information, ask the host about the particular room, entrance and activity. Explain whether you need space for a mobility aid, seating during storytelling or a different arrival arrangement. Keep the reply with your booking confirmation.
Three places to stay
These are Walthamstow and neighbouring-area bases, not all doorstep hotels. The CJ links open name searches. Check occupancy, room layout and transport before selecting a family stay.
The Commongate Hotel
A Walthamstow base to compare first. Check the route from Markhouse Road to Vestry House separately from the journey to the gallery’s usual address.

Planning another Pride visit
No 2027 Family Day for Pride has been announced on the official pages checked for this guide. Wait for the gallery to publish its venue and booking conditions before treating the 2026 programme as a repeat event.
Keep this family activity distinct from the capital’s main procession. Our Pride in London guide covers that separate visit. A local museum event and a central London parade need different travel plans.
