Plan a town-centre Pride visit to Kings Square and Central Park, with rail, bus and overnight options.
2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed
Barry Pride brings the town’s LGBTQI+ community together in Kings Square and Central Park. Its 2026 programme was billed as an afternoon of music, stalls, food and a bar. This is a town-centre visit: head for the square and park, rather than assuming the festival takes place beside Barry Island’s beach.
The organiser traces the first festival to Barry’s High Street in 2019. After the pandemic break, the event returned on Barry Island in 2022 and 2023. Community feedback led to the move to Kings Square and Central Park in 2024. Those locations were retained in the published 2026 announcement.
Pride grew from protest against discrimination and for equal rights. Barry Pride’s stated vision includes freedom from discrimination based on sexuality, gender, race and ability. You can support that purpose through a small local celebration as well as a big city march.
The confirmed 2026 date was Saturday 6 June. The organiser named Kings Square and Central Park, with a noon start. Visit the Vale’s event listing described a free event running from noon to 7pm and gave Central Park’s postcode as CF63 4RW.
The 2027 date is TBC. No announcement was found on the organiser’s website when this guide was checked. Keep accommodation flexible until a new date is published; the 2026 Saturday is a record of that edition, not a prediction.
Save the park’s location before leaving home. Barry, Barry Docks and Barry Island are separate station names, so choose your arrival point for the town-centre festival. Allow time to find your friends before settling near the music.
No 2026 parade, assembly time or route could be confirmed from the organiser’s published pages. Plan around the advertised festival in Kings Square and Central Park. The march from Parade Gardens across the causeway, described on the history page, belonged to the October 2022 edition.
For a future visit, check whether a procession has been added before arranging a group meeting. A festival start time does not establish a march departure. If you want to take part with an organisation, ask Barry Pride about participation through its published contact address.
Agree a meeting point away from performers and food queues, and keep entrances clear. That makes it easier for someone arriving late to join you.
The 2026 festival was free according to Visit the Vale. The organiser advertised live music, stalls, food and a bar. Free admission does not cover purchases from traders, so allow a separate food and drink budget.
Use the organiser’s announcements for the next line-up and any entry conditions. Published 2026 material did not establish child supervision rules, bag restrictions or a guaranteed family activity area. If those affect your visit, ask before travelling.
For an easy first visit, arrive around the advertised opening rather than planning an evening arrival. Give yourself time to look around the stalls and find a comfortable place to listen. Bring weather protection and decide where your group will go if you need a break.
Barry Docks station is on Dockview Road and is a practical town-centre arrival point. National Rail identifies Transport for Wales as its operator. Use a walking map to connect the station with Kings Square and Central Park, rather than following signs towards Barry Island.
Cardiff Bus service 96 links Cardiff and Barry through Culverhouse Cross and Wenvoe. Its operator’s timetable includes the local route information; check the travel date, direction and return journey together. A bus from Cardiff can suit visitors who prefer to avoid changing between rail services.
No event-specific parking plan, road closure notice or extra transport service was confirmed for 2026. Check council parking information and the operator’s service updates before setting off. Do not treat ordinary roadside spaces as reserved festival parking.
Find your last suitable train or bus before the day, including connections beyond Cardiff. Leave a margin for the walk back and crowded stops. If staying outside the centre, agree the evening transfer before joining the music.
The first two options are in Barry town: a hotel and self-catering apartments for the town-centre event. The budget option is by the airport at Rhoose, a short train ride away. Compare the whole journey cost, cancellation terms and actual room availability.

Ask the organiser about accessible viewing, toilets, Changing Places provision, BSL and a quiet space before booking travel. Those event facilities were not established by the published 2026 information. The contact is Barrypride.wales@gmail.com.
National Rail gives Barry Docks step-free category B1: all platforms have step-free access, but routes may involve long or steep ramps or surrounding streets. It lists no lifts and no staff help. Arrange any assistance with Transport for Wales, and discuss your arrival and departure platforms together.
A station’s step-free classification does not describe the whole walk to Central Park. Check gradients, dropped kerbs and the festival entrance with the organiser if you use wheels or have limited stamina. Ask for a specific meeting point for assistance.
The 2027 date has not been announced yet. The 2026 event was on 6 June. We will update this guide when the organiser confirms the next date.
