2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed

Viewing, BSL and step-free entry

For 2026, pre-bookable park options included a wheelchair platform, seated or standing viewing and a BSL zone. BSL interpreters covered the main stage on both days and the access tent. Approved visitors received an entrance and facilities map. Preston Park has uneven grass and slopes; the VIP entrance is not step-free.

Ask the access team about the exact gate-to-viewing route and parade viewing. The published park arrangements do not establish a reserved parade position. Check your arrival station’s lifts and the street route as well as the festival entrance. Choose a hotel by its specific room and entrance arrangements, rather than a general access symbol.

The 2026 access page said a confirmed wheelchair-platform place could be used throughout the day. It also described limited allocated accessible parking on Preston Park Avenue, entered from Preston Drove. Parking needed a ticket and advance confirmation, rather than simply arriving with a Blue Badge.

For a later edition, check the entrance and parking map attached to your approval. Put the bay, gate, viewing position and essential toilet on the same plan. If a short section of that journey is difficult, ask the team about it before choosing the rest of the day’s activities.

Carer and personal assistant tickets: how to apply

The 2026 scheme offered eligible visitors free PA tickets for the park and street party, but not camping. Buy your own ticket through the official shop, then use the application linked under “Applying for PA/Carers Tickets” on the organiser’s access page. Supply your AXS reference and eligibility evidence. Normally one PA is allocated unless evidence supports more. Do not buy an extra PA ticket expecting reimbursement.

Read the evidence list on that page before applying. Keep the approval with your booking and contact access@brighton-pride.org if your circumstances need discussion. Accessible-ticket bookings have their own follow-up documentation process; use the instructions AXS sends rather than submitting duplicate applications.

Accessible toilets and Changing Places

Event accessible toilets used the national key scheme. A Changing Places toilet has different equipment: an adult changing bench and hoist. Festival provision of that equipment, a dedicated sensory quiet area and reserved parade viewing could not be confirmed in the 2026 information; ask the access team before relying on them.

The council lists a Changing Places toilet at The Level, Ditchling Road, BN1 4SB. Its published summer hours are 10am–8pm and winter hours 10am–4pm. This is outside the ticketed park; check the walk and re-entry policy. The Brighton Centre, Kings Road, BN1 2GR also has a facility, with access through its reception or box office during published opening/event hours. Contact the venue for the date you need.

The council’s Jubilee Library listing says its adult changing facility has no hoist. The Colonnade Changing Places toilet should not be relied on: the council’s 28 July 2026 update said it remained closed pending further works, despite ordinary toilets reopening. Recheck the council’s current directory and contact the venue for equipment and access details.

Quiet breaks and getting around

The park and street party provided welfare support. Welfare provision does not automatically mean a low-stimulation room. Ask where you can take a quieter break, what seating is available and whether you can leave and return. Plan an alternative rest stop with your companions and keep a meeting point outside the busiest flow.

Arrange any rail assistance with your operator and check event station closures in the Brighton travel section. For buses, consult Brighton & Hove Buses’ accessibility information alongside diversions. If you need a taxi, agree a permitted pickup point during road closures. Ask the organiser about accessible parking, medication, dietary supplies or an assistance dog before booking arrangements that depend on them.

National Rail’s Brighton station page confirms Category A step-free access to all platforms. It marks accessible toilets, staff help and an induction loop as available, but Changing Places as unavailable. The Level or another confirmed venue facility therefore needs its own plan if you require a hoist and changing bench.

The station page lists Help Points in limited locations. Use your agreed Passenger Assistance meeting instructions rather than expecting help at any entrance. Check both directions of travel and the onward route to the actual festival gate.

Brighton & Hove Buses’ wheelchair guidance describes driver-deployed ramps when a raised kerb does not provide suitable boarding. It asks for Class 2 scooters to be assessed for compatibility. Do that before travelling with a scooter; a wheelchair-accessible service does not automatically accept every model.

The operator’s access pages also explain Helping Hand cards for communicating assistance needs. Use that option if it helps you tell the driver what support you require. Check event diversions alongside vehicle access, including the stop and direction for getting home.

For 2026, Pride asked visitors to contact the Access Team in advance about dietary food and drink or an assistance dog. Assistance dogs used the Accessible Gate, with an exercise area beside the access tent. Discuss any essential item and its entry arrangement when planning a later visit.

Your practical access checklist

  • Save the access approval, admission ticket and map offline.
  • Confirm your transport, actual entrance and viewing reservation.
  • Check toilet equipment and hours, plus any re-entry requirement.
  • Agree a rest point and the journey home with your companions.
  • Recheck the next edition’s policy before making new bookings.
