Cheltenham’s community celebration, formerly Pride in Cheltenham, moves to Montpellier Gardens in 2027.
2026 event — 2027 date announced: 17 July 2027
Cheltenham Festival of Pride is the organiser’s current name for the town’s main Pride celebration. Its 2026 edition was called Pride in Cheltenham. Pride in Gloucestershire runs the event, bringing LGBTQ+ visibility, entertainment and community organisations into central Cheltenham.
The town-centre setting makes it possible to combine the march with an afternoon of performances and stalls. Pride has roots in protest against discrimination; taking the celebration through public streets keeps that visibility alongside the music.
There is an important change for repeat visitors: the announced 2027 festival moves to Montpellier Gardens. Do not navigate automatically to Imperial Gardens because that is where you attended in 2026. Keep the two editions separate when arranging a meeting place.
Pride in Cheltenham took place on Saturday 16 May 2026. The festival was at Imperial Gardens from 1pm to 7pm, according to the University of Gloucestershire’s Park Life report. A dated Samaritans report confirms its volunteers joined the march and celebrations that day.
The organiser has announced 17 July 2027 for Cheltenham Festival of Pride at Montpellier Gardens, with festival hours of 1pm to 8pm. Its wider Pride Week is scheduled for 10–18 July; the detailed programme is still being developed.
Check the official event page before booking. This guide labels older arrangements by year so that the confirmed future date is not confused with the previous May event.
In 2026 the march began at noon outside John Lewis, 123 High Street. Park Life reported the High Street starting point, and Samaritans confirmed that the march went from the High Street to Imperial Gardens. A complete street-by-street 2026 route was not retained.
For watching a future march, wait for the published route before choosing a particular junction. Leave shop entrances, crossings and dropped kerbs clear. Someone who needs a shorter visit can focus on the festival rather than joining the whole procession.
For 2027 the organiser publishes an 11.30am assembly, noon departure and approximately 12.55pm arrival. The forming point, route and group registration information are TBC. No group fee or application deadline is currently published there. Organisations should check the official page rather than assume they can arrive with a float or a large group.
The organiser’s own Trans* in Gloucestershire project described the 2026 event as free to attend. In 2027 the main festival is also explicitly free, with no ticket required. That does not mean every purchase, trader activity or separate evening event is free.
The 2026 programme included live performances, a marketplace of local businesses and non-profit organisations, food vendors and the Trans* Information Zone. Park Life named Big Brovaz and Booty Luv among the performers. Treat those as the previous edition’s line-up, not acts booked for 2027.
Park Life also reported a dog-show charge of £5 per dog or class in 2026. Its wording does not clarify whether those were separate charging options. The 2027 dog show is planned, with categories, timings and entry information still TBC.
Maggie’s on Regent Street hosted a separate 2026 after-party advertised at £2. Check any future venue’s age rules and ticket terms directly: the daytime festival listing does not establish nightclub admission requirements.
For families, decide in advance how long to stay and where to take a break. Review the next programme for suitable activities, and budget for food and transport even when the main celebration has free entry.
Cheltenham Spa station is on Queens Road, outside the central festival area. Map the walk to the correct gardens, or use an ordinary local bus. Stagecoach lists its D/E services between the railway station and town centre.
The operator’s network also connects the centre with Arle Court Transport Hub on service A. Check the exact travel date, stop and return service before relying on park-and-ride travel. Ordinary network information is not confirmation of special Pride buses or overnight running.
No complete 2026 closure schedule was found in the sources used here. The organiser says 2027 parking and road-access information will follow once the march arrangements are finalised. Check its updates before choosing a car park or taxi meeting point.
Plan your return before arriving. Look up the final train you can use, including onward connections, and allow time between the gardens and station. An evening after-party can outlast public transport, so confirm a taxi or overnight stay if you intend to remain late.
The first two hotels are central walking bases close to the gardens. The third is a budget-brand comparison farther north in the centre. Check the total room cost, cancellation policy and route to the event; brand positioning does not guarantee the lowest available price.

The organiser says access arrangements vary by venue and event. Its general information promises an Accessibility Information Point and large-print programmes, but the Cheltenham-specific 2027 facilities are still TBC.
Contact the Accessibility & Inclusion Team through the official accessibility page about accessible viewing, toilets, Changing Places, BSL and quiet space. None of those specific facilities should be assumed from the free-entry policy.
National Rail lists Cheltenham Spa as step-free category B2, with some step-free access to all platforms and no lifts. Ask the rail operator about the route for your platform and any assistance you need. Allow for the station-to-gardens journey too, rather than checking rail access alone.
The organiser has announced 17 July 2027. The 2026 event was on 16 May. Check the official site for the programme before booking non-refundable travel.
The 2026 event was Pride in Cheltenham. The organiser now calls its next main event Cheltenham Festival of Pride.
The organiser says the 2027 festival is free with no ticket required. Separate evening events and paid activities have their own terms.
Group registration details, fees and deadlines are TBC. Follow the official instructions when published rather than using an older edition’s arrangements.
