2026 event — 2027 date announced: 8 May 2027
Choose your Exeter base
Queen Street suits Exeter Central and the Gandy Street area. Hotels around the cathedral also offer central walks, but include the actual slope and entrance in your decision. A room close on a map can still have stairs or an uphill approach. Choose around the activities you want to attend, then check the final route when the event map appears.

This is a location shortlist, rather than a guarantee about the room or price. Check the exact property name, room type, guest count and cancellation conditions. Ask the hotel directly about step-free access, lift dimensions or a particular bathroom requirement. A general accessibility label may not describe the room you select.

Current GWR timetables give useful daytime connections into Exeter Central. The estimates below are station-to-station, based on published 2026 services. They are not promises about May 2027 trains. Add waiting, the walk to your room and any connection when comparing the saving against a central hotel.
Topsham: around 15 minutes to Exeter Central. It can suit a visit where you want to sleep outside the city. Check how far the room is from Topsham station, especially if arriving with luggage. Confirm the return service before planning late entertainment.
Exmouth: about 25–30 minutes to Exeter Central. This gives a coastal base for a longer weekend. Allow extra time between the station and accommodation, rather than treating the rail duration as the whole journey. Check the last train you could comfortably catch.
Crediton: about 15–20 minutes to Exeter Central on typical services. Check the individual train, because routes and calling patterns matter. Before booking, compare the outward arrival with your chosen activity and the return with your planned finish.
Use GWR’s timetables and journey planner for the actual date. Save an earlier departure as a fallback. A flexible hotel booking gives you room to adjust if weekend engineering changes the plan.
Before you book
Use the announced 2027 date when selecting the stay. Check the nights carefully if travelling the day before or leaving the day after. Ask about luggage storage, check-in and how to reach reception during event restrictions. Keep written confirmation of any agreed access arrangement.
Consider noise as well as distance. A central room can simplify the walk while bringing street or venue sound into the evening. Ask about the particular room position if sleep matters more than being beside activities. Keep enough money and phone charge for your planned return.
