About Foyle Pride Festival

Foyle Pride Festival combines LGBTQIA+ community events with a grassroots parade through Derry~Londonderry. The 2026 festival ran from 19 to 29 August. This guide focuses on its parade day, Saturday 29 August, while pointing out the wider arts programme.

The organiser describes Pride as both celebration and protest. Its 2026 parade followed the original 1968 civil rights route, linking the city’s equality history with today’s LGBTQIA+ community. Participants were encouraged to bring themselves and their placards, rather than corporate advertising.

The festival used several city venues, including the Playhouse, Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, the Nerve Centre and Guildhall Square. That makes it useful to distinguish a ticket for an indoor event from joining the outdoor parade. You could build a longer visit around film, theatre, discussion and music.

When and where

The confirmed 2026 parade date was 29 August. Assembly began at 1pm at the North West Transport Hub in the Waterside. Departure was 2pm. The organiser’s event listing showed a 1pm–5pm block; its homepage and programme made clear that 1pm meant assembly, not departure.

The parade finished at Guildhall Square, where live music started at 3pm. These times describe the 2026 programme and should not be assumed for the next edition.

The 2027 festival and parade dates are TBC. No official announcement was found on the organiser’s opened pages. If booking an August stay, keep your dates flexible until Foyle Pride publishes its next programme.

Foyle Pride Festival parade route and start time

In 2026 the route went from Duke Street over Craigavon Bridge, then along Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street and Shipquay Street to Guildhall Square. Use those named streets when arranging where to meet. The assembly and finish are on different sides of the river.

Shipquay Street is a useful place to watch the final part of the procession before the square. Choose a pavement position that leaves doorways and crossing points clear. Families could also consider the organiser’s Playhouse craft session rather than asking children to walk the whole route.

The organiser’s 2026 accessibility arrangements included an electric mobility bus with Translink. Seats were booked through the programme’s linked booking route. Contact the organiser about any future provision; the 2026 booking arrangements do not reserve a place next year.

Foyle Pride Festival tickets, prices and what’s on

The 2026 programme marked the parade, Guildhall Square live music and family activities as free. The afternoon music featured Beauty Sleep, hosted by Joseph Carlin. A family circus-skills activity was listed at the back of Guildhall Square from 3pm.

Family crafts at the Playhouse on Artillery Street ran from noon to 5pm and were free. Children made banners and joined the parade when it reached Ferryquay Street. The craft space stayed open afterwards, offering an alternative to remaining beside the stage.

The official closing party at Sandinos on Water Street ran from 7pm to midnight. It cost £10 and was for ages 18 and over. Its published performers included Camp Vamps, David Hoyle and Dusty Grooves.

The wider 2026 festival included free community sessions alongside paid theatre and film events. Book each indoor event through its own organiser listing. An afternoon parade visit does not include admission to the closing party.

Foyle Pride Festival travel and getting there

Derry~Londonderry train station, the North West Transport Hub, is on Duke Street. It is the right rail arrival point for the 2026 parade assembly. For a future parade, check that the meeting point has stayed the same before choosing an arrival train.

Foyle Street Buscentre is at 24 Foyle Street. Translink lists Foyle Metro service 2d between the buscentre and the transport hub, connecting with most rail arrivals and departures. Check the date’s timetable and service changes before relying on that connection.

The transport hub has passenger parking. Translink’s current guide describes free parking for NIR rail passengers after ticket validation, with charges for non-passengers. Check the operator’s conditions rather than assuming all parade visitors park free.

No 2026 event-specific closure schedule or additional late services was confirmed. Allow for procession disruption along the named route, and check your last suitable train or coach in advance. The closing party ended much later than the outdoor music began; an overnight stay may suit visitors joining both.

Accessibility

In 2026 the organiser offered an accessible viewing area in Guildhall Square, BSL for the parade programme, and the bookable mobility bus. A sensory room in the Guildhall’s Whittaker Suite was listed from 1pm to 5pm.

The Playhouse family craft space also included a respite area with drinking water and comfortable chairs. These were distinct options, so choose the location that matches your afternoon plans.

Translink lists step-free ramp access, a train boarding ramp, staff assistance, accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility at the North West Transport Hub. Foyle Street Buscentre has step-free access and accessible toilets. Discuss assistance with Translink before travelling if you need support between services.

Event toilet locations, a dedicated carer ticket policy and future access booking details were not confirmed. Ask the organiser through the official festival site for your specific requirements. A public transport facility does not establish toilets at the outdoor stage.
