2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed
Viewing, BSL and step-free access
The event arrangements below describe the published 2026 information, unless a different year is stated. Confirm the next edition’s facilities and booking process with the organiser before travelling. Permanent transport and venue facilities should also be checked for your visit date.
For 2026, the organiser said all venues were wheelchair accessible, with official partner venues providing step-free access. That covered the Pride Arena at Times Square, the Trans+ Zone at Northern Stage and the Family and Youth Zone at Newcastle Theatre Royal. Newcastle Airport was the official accessibility partner.
The 2026 official festival guide listed BSL interpreters at the Arena stage, at Northern Stage and on the Grey’s Monument stage. The organiser said the full interpretation schedule would appear in the official festival guide, so check the next edition’s guide for exact times.
The organiser described the 2026 march route as kerb-free. Joining the march may suit you better than watching from a crowded pavement. A reserved accessible viewing area for the march could not be confirmed in the 2026 information, so ask the organiser before relying on one. Grey’s Monument becomes very crowded during the speeches.
Carer and personal assistant tickets: how to apply
Only the Pride Arena needs a ticket; the march and free zones do not. For 2026, the NewcastleGateshead visitor guide said arena carer tickets were available by emailing hello@evntinspirations.co.uk, the arena operator. The eligibility evidence required and the number of carers allowed were not published in the information we found.
Ask the operator about the next edition well before the event, with your booking reference and a short explanation of the support you need. Keep the reply with your ticket. Do not buy an extra ticket for a carer expecting a refund: the 2026 arena tickets were non-refundable. For anything else, contact the organiser at info@curiousfutures.co.uk.
Accessible toilets and Changing Places
In 2026, accessible and gender-neutral toilets were provided at the arena, Northern Stage and Newcastle Theatre Royal. The organiser’s travel partner announcement said AccessoLoo units with hoist and changing facilities would be available at the arena for people who need them.
Outside the arena, Newcastle City Council opened permanent Changing Places toilets in 2024 at Northern Stage on Barras Bridge and at Newcastle Civic Centre. These are the 2026 Trans+ Zone venue and the march gathering point. Both are available during the buildings’ public opening hours. Whether the Civic Centre facility was open on march day could not be confirmed, so check opening hours on the Changing Places map before you travel.
Quiet breaks and welfare
In 2026, the Trans+ Zone at Northern Stage hosted a quieter, low-stimulation space on Saturday. On Sunday, TimbaDash Theatre ran a sensory and quiet space within the Family and Youth Zone at Newcastle Theatre Royal. Festival team members in high-visibility jackets were available across the weekend to help.
A separate welfare tent or night-time safe space could not be confirmed for 2026. Agree a rest point with your companions before the busiest part of the day, ideally away from Grey’s Monument and the arena entrance.
Getting around
Metro station access and the platform gap vary, so check the operator’s current accessibility information and lift status for your journey. New Metro trains have sliding steps and dedicated wheelchair spaces. Contact Nexus about travel assistance and mobility-scooter rules before travelling. Do not assume a station’s accessible entrance is the nearest entrance to your event venue.
Monument station is directly beneath Grey’s Monument and under a minute from the Theatre Royal. Haymarket is about two minutes from Northern Stage. For Northern Stage, the 2026 guide said Blue Badge holders could arrange parking with Newcastle University in advance on 0191 208 7171. Arrange rail assistance through your train operator, and see the Newcastle travel section for road closures.
