2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed
Choose your Newport base
Pride in the Port’s 2026 parade began at John Frost Square, with the festival beside the Steel Wave on the riverfront. A city-centre room makes it easier to combine these locations and return for a rest. Newport’s accommodation extends far beyond that compact centre. Check the property’s street and final journey rather than choosing from a Newport search result alone.

Newport’s own 2027 date remains to be confirmed. Southampton’s national UK Pride hosting date is not a date for Newport. Compare flexible booking terms while waiting for the local announcement. This is a location shortlist, not a guarantee of availability or a promise that every room meets your needs.
If you arrive by train, consider luggage storage and the return walk to the station. A riverfront festival does not necessarily use the entrance closest to your hotel. Ask the property about late arrival and room access if you plan an evening out. Keep a clear distinction between a central walking base and a hotel that requires a bus or taxi.
Six hotels near Newport and its Pride locations
The first three hotels are within Newport’s urban area, with different walks to the historical event sites. The remaining three are wider local bases in Caerleon and the Coldra area, requiring a transfer. They are not beside the riverfront. We show that difference clearly because a Newport address covers a much larger area than the parade and festival.
Compare the pedestrian route, not only the straight-line distance. For an outer hotel, check evening buses and book an appropriate taxi if that is the better option. A transfer can change the total cost of a room and limit when you return for a break. Choose the whole journey that suits your party.
Mercure Newport
A central base for the historical square and riverfront, with an urban walk rather than an outer-hotel transfer.

A Chepstow Road hotel with a walk back across the river towards the central Pride locations.

A south-of-centre base that needs a longer urban walk or a local transfer to the historical festival.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗The Priory Hotel
A Caerleon base for a wider weekend, requiring a bus or taxi rather than a short festival walk.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗Tŷ Newport
An eastern Newport hotel that suits a planned transfer, rather than repeated walking trips to the city centre.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗Holiday Inn Newport
A Coldra-area hotel requiring a confirmed bus or taxi to and from the riverfront celebration.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗Three budget options
These are places to compare when keeping accommodation costs down, rather than a claim that they will be cheapest on your dates. The two chain hotels are outside the centre; the guest house offers another type of room stay closer in. Inspect the room and bathroom arrangements, cancellation terms and transport costs before choosing.
ibis budget Newport
A budget-chain comparison north of the centre, with the final bus or taxi journey included in your plan.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗Holiday Inn Express Newport
A western Newport comparison that needs a transfer and should be costed with the journey back after Pride.
Check rooms on Booking.com ↗Central Guest House
An adults-only guest-house alternative near the Chepstow Road hotels, with room and bathroom details to check before booking.

Cardiff
Cardiff offers another accommodation market on the main rail line. The normal train journey between Cardiff Central and Newport takes about 15 minutes. Add the walk at both ends and check the final useful departure. A hotel beside Cardiff Central has a different onward journey from one in an outer neighbourhood, particularly after an evening festival.
Cwmbran
Transport for Wales describes the train from Cwmbran to Newport as taking under 15 minutes. It can be a useful comparison when Newport rooms are limited. Check how your selected hotel connects with Cwmbran station, and read the weekend timetable. A short train ride does not include a taxi to the hotel or waiting between services.
Abergavenny
Abergavenny is a wider rail-connected alternative, with the operator describing direct journeys to Newport in as little as 30 minutes. It suits a visitor who wants a different base for a longer weekend. Check the exact train and station-to-hotel journey before booking. It adds more travel than a Newport room, especially if you need a daytime rest.
Before you book
Put the complete cost beside the advertised room rate: breakfast, parking, transfers and any extra night needed for a workable return. Compare the same dates and occupancy across properties. Read whether a booking is refundable and how long the cancellation window lasts. Avoid paying for an assumed Newport date simply because another city’s UK Pride is announced.
Ask about specific access requirements directly with the property. A listing’s general accessible-facilities label does not establish a step-free entrance to every room or a suitable shower. Explain the space and equipment you need, and keep confirmation. Confirm whether luggage can be left before check-in or after checkout if it changes your festival plan.
For a group, check the room configuration and each person’s arrival arrangements. Agree how an outer-hotel transfer will work if some friends leave earlier. Keep the property’s directions offline and allow time for the journey after a long day. The Newport visitor guide and accessibility page help compare the hotel choice with the event’s historical layout.
