About Gloucester Festival of Pride

Gloucester Festival of Pride is Pride in Gloucestershire’s main county-wide celebration. It combines a city-centre march with a festival in Gloucester Park. It is distinct from the same organiser’s Cheltenham event, which has its own date and visitor guide.

The organiser’s impact page discusses feedback following Festival of Pride 2026, confirming that edition took place. The 2026 ticket listing marked 20 years of Pride across Gloucestershire, with stage performances and community spaces.

Pride grew from protest for equal rights, and the march still provides public visibility and solidarity. You can join that purpose without planning your whole day around a headline act. Think about the cathedral meeting point, the park festival and the journey home as separate parts of your visit.

When and where

The 2026 festival date was Saturday 12 September, at Gloucester Park. The organiser’s ticket page listed noon–8pm in its header but an 8:30pm finish in its detailed description. Those published closing times disagreed; they should not be treated as a dependable future timetable.

The official Gloucester Festival of Pride page announces Saturday 11 September 2027 at Gloucester Park. It gives festival hours of 11:45am–8pm and entry gates closing at 7:45pm. These are published plans, subject to later updates.

Pride Week 2027 is announced for 4–12 September, with its programme still to come. Book for the festival date if that is your main reason for travelling. Do not assume every Pride Week day has a full park programme.

Gloucester Pride march route and start time

The organiser’s 2026 ticket listing advertised meeting at Gloucester Cathedral from 11am, with departure around 11:30am, through the city to Gloucester Park. The cathedral’s own listing gave 10:45am as its opening time. That earlier venue time was separate from the organiser’s assembly instruction.

For 2026, the organiser said festival attendance was not required to join the march. A complete street-by-street route was not confirmed in the sources used here. Do not reconstruct it from an old photograph or assume every cathedral-to-park walk is the march route.

The 2027 organiser page gives assembly at 10:30am, departure at 11:15am and arrival at 12:30pm. It says the forming point, route and group registration details will follow. Individuals, friends and families will not need group registration. Group fees and deadlines remain TBC.

Choose a viewing point only after the final route appears. Keep crossing points, doorways and stewarded space clear, particularly around the forming area.

Gloucester Pride tickets, prices and what’s on

The organiser’s 2026 ticket listing advertised advance adult admission at £8, or £10 at the gate subject to availability. Children aged 15 and under were £5; under-twos were free. Booking fees were additional, and everyone, including babies, needed a ticket.

Its published programme included stage entertainment, family and youth activities, a Trans Zone, community organisations, food and traders. Quiet and sensory-friendly spaces were advertised. The K&F area was for over-18s. Purchases from traders, food and fairground rides were separate from admission.

For 2027, ticket information and the line-up are still to come. The organiser has announced a quieter opening period, 11:45am–12:30pm. Check the latest ticket conditions before paying; historical prices are useful context rather than an offer for the next edition.

Gloucester Pride travel and getting there

The organiser puts Gloucester Park around ten minutes’ walk from Gloucester railway and bus stations. The cathedral estimates ten to fifteen minutes from those stations to its own grounds. Pick the destination that matches your plan: the march forming point and festival entrance are different.

Use National Rail’s Gloucester station page for station information and your dated rail journey. For buses, use the Stagecoach journey planner with your exact stop and return time. Do not rely on a daytime service continuing into the evening.

The cathedral says parking in its close is restricted to pass holders, with eight Blue Badge spaces available first come, first served. Those are venue facilities, not reserved Pride parking. Detailed 2027 transport, parking and road-access guidance is still to be published by the organiser.

Save a return option before arriving. Leave a margin for walking out of the park and reaching the correct platform or stop. If travelling beyond Gloucester, check the last connection as well as the first leg.

Where to stay

The first two hotels are city options for the cathedral and park. The budget chain option is farther out at Quedgeley and needs a planned transfer. Compare the complete journey and cancellation terms, not just the room price. Confirm any accessible bedroom directly before paying.

Accessibility

The organiser’s accessibility page says arrangements vary by event and directs visitors to the event-specific information. It advertises an Accessibility Information Point and large-print programmes, and provides a contact route to its Accessibility & Inclusion Team.

The 2026 ticket listing advertised quiet and sensory-friendly areas but deferred carer and personal-assistant ticket information to a separate page. Current sources did not establish the 2026 carer application terms, BSL schedule, accessible toilet layout or Changing Places equipment. Ask the team about these before a future visit.

For 2027, the organiser has confirmed the quieter first 45 minutes, while detailed event access information remains forthcoming. Explain whether you need a shorter route, protected viewing, a hoist or help finding the entrance. Check Gloucester station access and book rail assistance with your operator; a station’s facilities do not establish park access.
