About Reading Pride

Reading Pride’s Love Unites Parade & Festival combines a town-centre procession with a free celebration at King’s Meadow. The council’s What’s On Reading listing described entertainment, a family area and community participation. Pride’s celebration grew from protest against discrimination and the continuing campaign for equal rights.

The 2026 event took place on 5 September. Reading Today’s photographic report, published on 6 September 2026, recorded the parade through town and music, drag performances and speeches at King’s Meadow. This was a community day as well as a stage programme.

Choose whether your visit centres on the procession, performances or time with friends. A shorter festival visit is a reasonable option if a full day feels tiring. Agree where to meet and how to leave before the busiest parts of your day.

When and where

Reading Pride took place on Saturday 5 September 2026 at King’s Meadow. The dated council listing gave noon for the festival’s beginning, when the parade arrived. It placed the festival after the morning procession rather than treating both as one simultaneous start.

The organiser’s dated accessibility page identified the festival location as King’s Meadow, Reading, RG1 8BN. Save the venue name when planning an arrival; it is different from simply choosing a town-centre shopping destination.

A 2027 date is TBC as checked on 13 October 2026. Wait for the organiser’s announcement before making non-refundable arrangements. Future programme hours and participation instructions need their own confirmation; the 2026 afternoon start is historical information.

Reading Pride parade route and start time

Reading Today’s post-event report confirmed that the 2026 parade passed through town in the morning before the festival. Its photographs included Forbury Gardens. The council event listing advertised arrival at King’s Meadow at noon.

The organiser’s homepage says the parade assembles by the southern entrance to Reading station, sets off at about 11am and reaches the festival at King’s Meadow at about noon. No street-by-street route was published.

If you plan to watch, choose a place on the newly published route with room for other pedestrians to pass. Keep crossings and entrances clear. Groups should ask the organiser about registration before arriving together with banners. Meeting friends at the festival is an alternative to staying together throughout a crowded procession.

Reading Pride tickets, prices and what’s on

The 2026 council listing described the parade and festival as free. It requested a £5 donation at the gate by card or cash; that was fundraising support, rather than an advertised admission charge. Pride Plus was separately promoted, but a confirmed 2026 price was not retained.

The published programme included multiple entertainment stages, a funfair, family activities and food, drink and market stalls. The post-event news report confirmed music, drag and speeches. Decide what interests your group instead of expecting to see every performance.

Free admission does not include every purchase. Allow money for food, drinks or optional activities, and check individual evening events separately. Families can focus on the daytime programme and leave when they need to. Choose a meeting point before splitting up between stages or stalls.

Reading Pride travel and getting there

National Rail lists Reading station on Station Hill, RG1 1LZ. Use King’s Meadow as the onward destination, and check a map for the entrance you need. Allow time between your arrival and any procession assembly rather than planning around the festival’s noon start alone.

Reading Buses provides a journey planner, route timetables and service updates. Check both directions, including the stop used for your return. Road or stop changes can make the outward and homeward journeys different.

Check council parking and road notices before driving. Do not assume an ordinary town-centre parking space will remain reachable during a procession. Choose a drop-off point away from a crowded entrance and agree it with your driver.

Look up your last suitable train and any connection before travelling. Save an earlier departure as a backup, and allow for the journey from the park to your platform. A late evening booking needs a separate return plan.

Accessibility

The organiser’s 2026 access information advertised BSL interpretation throughout the main-stage day and a raised viewing platform. It described priority front access for wheelchair users at the PrideXtra and Pride aLive stages. Ask the event team which facilities will return.

The same page described an assisted toilet with a full-size changing table, grab rails and ceiling-track hoist, plus a wellbeing area away from the busiest activity. It welcomed assistance dogs and offered Blue Badge parking in the traders’ car park. These were 2026 arrangements.

Ask the organiser through its official site about entrances, equipment and support before travelling. National Rail classifies Reading as step-free category A, with access to all platforms. Arrange railway assistance separately; station access does not establish the suitability of every route across the festival.
