About Sheffield Radical Pride

Sheffield Radical Pride is a grassroots march and park gathering organised by and for the local queer community. Its published principles describe Pride as a protest and reject corporate-led celebrations. Read those principles before joining so you understand the event’s purpose.

Pride’s protest roots remain central here, alongside space to meet people and share support. This guide covers Sheffield Radical Pride, rather than treating every Sheffield LGBTQ+ festival as one event. Check the organiser’s name when sharing plans with friends.

For a first visit, decide whether you want to march or meet at the park. An afternoon gathering can suit someone who prefers a shorter day. Agree a meeting point and a way to contact each other before the crowd builds.

When and where

According to the organiser’s announcement, Sheffield Radical Pride took place on Saturday 4 July 2026. The Star reported that hundreds marched from outside City Hall at 1pm in the fourth annual event. The programme named Ponderosa Park for stalls, activities and food from 3pm.

The date for 2027 is TBC. The official website had not published a new date when checked on 13 October 2026. Keep the 2026 plan separate from future arrangements, especially when buying non-refundable train tickets or reserving a room.

City Hall and the park are different meeting places. Save both locations, and tell anyone joining later which part of the day you intend to attend. Bring weather protection for an outdoor visit and leave yourself time to find your group.

Sheffield Radical Pride march route and start time

The organiser’s 2026 route and access page scheduled departure from City Hall/Barker’s Pool at 1.20pm. It described Division Street, Rockingham Street, Broad Lane, Tenter Street, Gibraltar Street and Allen Street, then Shalesmoor, Hoyle Street, Meadow Street, Watery Street and St Philip’s Road towards Ponderosa.

Meadow Street was a late joining point at 3pm, with arrival at the park planned for 3.10pm. The general programme advertised a park party from 3pm; the detailed route put march arrival ten minutes later. These were published plans, rather than guaranteed arrival times.

If watching, choose space away from crossings and leave dropped kerbs clear. Avoid stepping into the march for photographs. For future group participation, ask the organiser about current arrangements; no registration fee or deadline was established for this guide.

Sheffield Radical Pride tickets, prices and what’s on

The 2026 announcement described stalls, activities and food at Ponderosa. It also listed disability, QTIPOC, sex worker, migrant solidarity, and parents-and-children blocs within the march. These were ways of organising participation, rather than separate ticket categories.

Admission prices, park finishing time and age conditions remain TBC for the next edition. Ask about any activity you particularly want to attend. Do not assume an independently advertised evening party shares the march’s arrangements or entry conditions.

Pack water, snacks and any medicines you need for the whole outing. A park visit can feel different after a long walk, so allow a rest before exploring stalls. If attending with children, agree how to find each other and where to take a break.

Sheffield Radical Pride travel and road closures

National Rail places Sheffield station on Sheaf Street and identifies East Midlands Railway as its station operator. Use City Hall as the destination for assembly, or Ponderosa if joining the gathering directly.

Travel South Yorkshire says Supertram serves City Hall and provides current routes, timetables and disruption alerts. Its park-and-ride information offers another way to approach the centre. Check the complete journey, including the final walk.

For buses, use the same transport authority’s journey planner with your actual destination and travel date. Road closures, event parking and extra transport for this march were not confirmed. Keep a pickup point outside the gathering and check restrictions before driving.

Plan the return from the park, rather than assuming you will finish beside City Hall. Find the last suitable train and any onward connection before leaving home. Allow a margin for tired legs, a missed tram or a crowded platform.

Accessibility

The 2026 organiser described level access with slopes, and the detailed route identified uneven surfaces, tram tracks and steep sections. Step-free does not mean flat. Read the photographs and route notes alongside your own access requirements before deciding whether to march.

The programme offered joining partway or going directly to Ponderosa, and mentioned an accessible toilet five minutes from the park. Ask radicalpridesheff@gmail.com for its precise location and availability. Accessible viewing, Changing Places, BSL and a dedicated quiet area were not confirmed.

National Rail classifies Sheffield station as step-free category A, with lifts and staff assistance. Arrange rail assistance separately from help at Pride. Discuss the final walk, rest opportunities and any support needed to reach the park, especially if travelling alone.
