off to pride

Make a weekend of it

Stay between the city and the festival.

Six hotels near the historical route or Knavesmire, three budget alternatives and rail-connected overflow towns.

2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed

Choose your York base

Choose between the city-centre parade and the Knavesmire festival before comparing rooms. Skeldergate and the southern city can help connect the two, while a station-side stay prioritises rail arrivals. Check the actual festival entrance and walking route when the new map appears. A room near a procession street does not remove the later journey to the site.

This is a location shortlist, not a guarantee about your selected room or event-date availability. Compare the same guest count, nights and cancellation terms. Ask the hotel directly about entrance access, lifts and the bathroom you require. A general facility label may not describe every room.

Three budget options

These are budget-brand or value-comparison alternatives, rather than a promise of the lowest Pride rate. Compare room size, bathroom, breakfast and any parking charges. Include extra transport when the property is farther from the event. The hotel with the lowest room price may have the highest overall travel cost.

Overflow areas

Leeds and Malton offer rail-connected alternatives when York rooms are expensive or unavailable. The operator times below are typical daytime station-to-station journeys, not a Pride 2027 timetable. Add waiting time, the walk to the York activity and the journey from your overflow station to the room.

Leeds: around 23 minutes on a fast direct service. Other trains can take longer. Choose a hotel whose station journey suits you, then check both directions before booking. A useful daytime connection does not establish how late you can return after evening entertainment.

Malton: around 25 minutes to York. It offers a smaller-town base, provided the return train fits your day. Check the walk to your accommodation and whether you need another transfer. Save an earlier return as a fallback rather than relying on the final possible departure.

Use TransPennine Express’s journey information and the actual-date planner. Compare the total room and travel cost with a central stay. If the savings depend on a taxi after the last train, price that plan before choosing the hotel.

Before you book

Use the organiser’s confirmed date before making a non-refundable reservation. Read the cancellation deadline and the number of nights carefully. Ask about check-in, luggage storage and reaching reception during event restrictions. Keep written confirmation of any agreed access arrangement.

Think about noise as well as distance. A central room can help with walking while bringing street or venue sound into the evening. Ask about the particular room position if sleep is a priority. Keep enough phone charge and money for the return plan you have chosen.
