About Cambridge Pride
Cambridge Pride is a free community celebration on Jesus Green, organised by the volunteer-led Pink Festival Group. The 2026 festival was held on Saturday 13 June. The organiser has confirmed Saturday 12 June 2027, again on Jesus Green with free admission.
Pride combines celebration with the protest for LGBTQ+ equality. Its community spaces can be just as valuable as its performances. You can come for a conversation, bring friends to the parade or simply spend part of the afternoon listening to music.
Jesus Green is north of the city centre, beside the River Cam. It is a grass park with tree-lined paths, rather than a purpose-built concert venue. Plan for outdoor surfaces, weather and the walk from your arrival point.
For a manageable visit, choose the parade and one part of the festival as your priorities. Add breaks and food around those activities. You do not need to stay until the final performance to have taken part.
Cambridge Pride parade route and start time
In 2026, the parade departed at noon from Park Parade, with participants asked to arrive from 11.30am. The guide described a procession through Cambridge returning to Jesus Green. A complete street-by-street route and closure schedule could not be confirmed from the opened official material.
The published 2027 instructions are different: assemble on Jesus Green at 11am and set off at noon on 12 June. Organised groups must register before walking, using the form before its 1 April 2027 closing date; community groups and organisations are asked for a £150 donation per section. Individuals and families can take part without paying.
If arriving with others, agree a meeting point before entering the assembly area. Choose one person to hold the group’s registration information. Keep banners manageable and leave enough space around wheelchair users and anyone who needs more time to move.
The organiser welcomes questions about parade access at accessibility@cambridgepride.co.uk. Explain whether you want to complete the procession or watch. Ask about the assembly surface, distance and opportunities to leave the route if you become tired.
Where to watch
For a simple plan, consider the published assembly and departure area once stewards confirm public access. Stay behind any barriers and keep crossings clear. A location with an easy exit can be more useful than the busiest viewpoint, especially with children.
Cambridge Pride free events and what’s on
The 2026 programme included the Main Stage, Community Hive and Dance Tent. It combined performance with talks, workshops and community organisations. The Dance Tent ran from 1pm until 9.30pm, while other parts of the programme finished earlier.
That mixture lets you shape the day around your interests. Look for a workshop or conversation as well as a stage act. Community stalls can be useful for finding local support and opportunities to take part beyond the festival.
In 2026, visitors could bring food and drink, but glass containers were prohibited. Food vendors, bars and a free water tap were available. Check the current entry rules before packing, particularly if you have dietary or medical requirements.
Spread your activities across the day instead of moving repeatedly between crowded stages. Identify the toilets and information point early. If you want to meet friends later, choose a recognisable location away from the busiest stage entrance.
Ticket prices and booking
General admission was free in 2026. Optional Oasis entry cost £19, with a Deluxe Experience at £35. These are historical prices, not 2027 offers. Use the organiser’s current booking links and read the terms for any paid extras.
Families, younger visitors and breaks
The organiser describes the 2027 event as family-friendly. In 2026, Community Hive included children’s stories, singalongs and workshops. Check the new running order before promising a particular activity to a child.
Family-friendly does not mean every performance has the same audience. Read individual descriptions and listen to content guidance. Adults should supervise children throughout the visit and agree what to do if anyone becomes separated.
Keep the first visit short enough to remain enjoyable. Bring comfortable layers and plan food before children become tired. Write a contact number somewhere they can carry it safely, and identify a steward when you arrive.
Jesus Green also has permanent leisure facilities, but do not assume every part will be available inside the event layout. Stay attentive around the river. If the family needs a pause, ask about the current quieter area rather than settling beside a loud stage.
Cambridge Pride travel and road closures
Cambridge railway station is on Station Road, south of the city centre. Jesus Green is beyond the centre to the north. Allow time for that final journey; the station name does not mean you have arrived beside the festival.
Check National Rail for your own origin, connections and any engineering work. If walking, save a route to Jesus Green rather than to a general city-centre pin. If using a taxi or bus, allow for a final walk around temporary restrictions.
Stagecoach provided free station shuttles in 2026 at 10.15am and 11.15am. Returns from Jesus Green left at 4pm and 5pm. The operator also offered a dated DayRider discount. A 2027 shuttle, discount or extra train service has not been confirmed.
The 2026 festival had no public parking on Jesus Green. Cambridge’s park-and-ride sites include Babraham Road, Madingley Road, Milton, Newmarket Road and Trumpington. Choose the one that suits your approach road and check the return service.
A park-and-ride ticket is useful only if you can reach the car again when you leave. Confirm the final bus before planning an evening stay. Keep the site name and stop details with your ticket, especially if members of your group travel separately.
Getting home without rushing
The 2026 festival continued until 9.30pm, but the last advertised free shuttle left at 5pm. Those were different finish times. Staying for later entertainment meant making a separate plan for reaching the station.
Start with the last useful connection to your final destination, then work backwards to a departure from Jesus Green. Allow for walking, queues and any assistance meeting time. Save an earlier train as a comfortable alternative.
Check the return from Cambridge to your hotel if staying outside the city. A daytime journey may be quick but less frequent later. Compare the room saving with any taxi cost and the time you would spend waiting.
After a busy day, it can help to leave with your group before everyone else decides to travel. Keep your ticket and a backup contact method accessible. If separating, agree whether you will meet at the park exit, station or accommodation.
Where to stay
Thompson’s Lane and Chesterton Road put you near Jesus Green, while central hotels farther south offer access to restaurants and shops. A station-side hotel can simplify the return journey but adds travel to the park. Decide whether you value proximity to the event or convenience for the train.
Our Cambridge hotel guide includes six central choices, three budget alternatives and overflow options in Ely, Royston and Waterbeach.
Food and the evening
Choose between remaining at the festival and booking an ordinary dinner in the city. A meal away from amplified music can give the group time to rest. Make the reservation late enough for your chosen activity but early enough for your return journey.
The 2026 Friday opening party was a separate, ticketed, adults-only cabaret on Jesus Green. It took place on 12 June, before the Saturday festival. Its archived price is unavailable, and a 2027 opening party has not been announced.
For daytime food, compare vendors when you arrive rather than leaving the decision until a long queue has formed. Ask directly about ingredients and cross-contamination. Carry your own necessary dietary supplies within the event’s current rules.
Central restaurants can suit visitors who prefer a seated finish. The Varsity hotel’s SIX Brasserie and River Bar are established dining options, rather than announced Pride afterparties. Check menus, reservations and access with the venue before committing.
Pack for an outdoor June day
Prepare for sunshine, rain and a cooler journey home. Use sunscreen and carry a light waterproof layer. Comfortable footwear should suit paths and grass, including ground that may become uneven or soft after rain.
Bring water, medication, a charged phone and a power bank. Keep your chosen departure and accommodation address available offline. Earplugs or ear defenders can make it easier to spend time near music without staying there continuously.
A small bag is easier to manage in a crowd. Think about how you will carry it during the parade and where you can sit for a break. Our packing guide helps you prepare without bringing more than you need.
Accessible viewing and quieter spaces
The organiser’s access page describes a Main Stage viewing platform, allocated first come, first served. Its previous arrangements included interpreting and quieter spaces. Check the new access plan before treating those facilities as confirmed for your 2027 visit.
Cambridge station has step-free platform access and lists a Changing Places facility. For event access, contact the organiser with your particular requirements. Our Cambridge accessibility guide separates festival arrangements from permanent city facilities.
Questions before you go
When is Cambridge Pride 2027?
The organiser has announced 12 June 2027. The 2026 event was on 13 June. Check the official site for the programme before booking non-refundable travel.
Do I need to buy a festival ticket?
General admission is free for the announced 2027 event. Optional experiences, if offered, have separate terms. Book only an extra you actually want, and check whether the advertised price includes booking charges before paying.
Which assembly time should I use?
Use the organiser’s instructions for the year you are attending. The current 2027 parade page gives an 11am meeting on Jesus Green. An old programme or saved social post may describe a different location or arrival time.
Will the free shuttle bring me back after the last act?
Do not assume so. The 2026 shuttle ended during the afternoon. Check any new operator announcement and plan the station journey separately if staying for evening entertainment. Keep the exact return stop and departure times with your travel plan.
Can I bring a dog?
The organiser’s current parade page allows dogs on leads and asks visitors to consider crowds and noise. Think about your dog’s comfort around amplified sound and warm weather. Carry water and be prepared to leave early if the setting becomes stressful.
Where should I ask about BSL or a viewing place?
Email accessibility@cambridgepride.co.uk with the stages or activities you want to attend. Ask where to stand for a clear view, how places are allocated and whether a companion can stay beside you. Arrange this before buying any optional extra.
Is Grand Arcade a reliable Changing Places option?
The council currently lists its Changing Places as closed for refurbishment. Use the latest council information when planning. Drummer Street and Cambridge station offer alternatives, but check their operational details and opening times before travelling.
Can I arrive late and still enjoy the day?
Choose an activity from the published running order and leave enough time to find it. If joining the parade matters to you, arrive for its assembly. An afternoon-only visit can suit people who prefer a shorter day or an earlier return.
