2026 event — 2027 date announced: 12 June 2027
Choose your Cambridge base
For proximity to Jesus Green, start with the northern city centre or Chesterton Road. Hotels near Parker’s Piece offer a central base farther south. A station-side stay can simplify train arrivals, but adds a walk or bus journey to the festival. Decide which part of your journey you most want to make easy before comparing rooms.

Ask the hotel directly about step-free access, lift dimensions or a particular bathroom requirement. A general accessibility label may not describe the room you select.

Ely, Royston and Waterbeach have useful daytime rail connections with Cambridge. Operator journey information gives the typical estimates below. These are station-to-station durations, not a June 2027 timetable. Add the journey between Cambridge station and Jesus Green, plus the walk from your overflow station to the room.
Ely: about 15–20 minutes by train. Compare hotels around the actual station approach, not only the city-centre landmark you want to visit. Check your preferred return and a backup train before choosing an evening activity.
Royston: about 15–20 minutes by train. A room here can suit a trip from the south, provided the final return works. Check whether your ticket and train are direct. Budget for waiting time if you leave the festival between departures.
Waterbeach: around 10 minutes by train. The short rail journey is attractive, but accommodation can still be some distance from the station. Check the walking route after dark, the service frequency and how you would get back if you miss the preferred train.
Use Great Northern’s journey information and the current planner for your full route. Compare the total travel cost with a central room. A cheaper night loses some value if it requires a costly late taxi.
Before you book
Use the announced 2027 date when selecting the stay. Check the nights carefully if travelling the day before or leaving the day after. Ask about luggage storage, check-in and how to reach reception during event restrictions. Keep written confirmation of any agreed access arrangement.
Consider noise as well as distance. A central room can simplify the walk while bringing street or venue sound into the evening. Ask about the particular room position if sleep matters more than being beside activities. Keep enough money and phone charge for your planned return.
