2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed
Viewing, BSL and step-free routes
The historical Pride weekend combined a city-centre march with activity at FarGo Village. Those settings need separate access checks. Ask about the pavement journey to the march meeting point and the entrance to your chosen FarGo activity. An accessible station does not establish that a particular temporary stage or workshop room has the same access.
Coventry Pride’s published accessibility statement discusses its website. It does not specify festival viewing platforms, BSL interpreting, captions, quiet rooms or companion applications. Ask the team for the next event’s arrangements before relying on a facility. Explain which performance or activity matters to you, whether you need seating and how far you can comfortably walk or wheel.
Carers and personal assistants
The local 2026 event listing advertised free general entry, so there was no general admission price to discount for a companion. A reserved viewing area or separately ticketed party is a different matter. Ask the organiser whether you need to apply for any managed facility and whether your personal assistant can stay beside you.
Describe your requirements in practical terms: a seat, space for a wheelchair, a shorter entrance route or help finding an activity. Ask how any arrangement will be confirmed and who to approach on arrival. Keep the reply available offline. Do not send personal medical information unless the organiser explains a specific requirement and how it will handle that information.
Accessible toilets and Changing Places
Avanti lists a RADAR-accessible toilet on Coventry station’s platform 1. The council separately lists a Changing Places facility at Coventry Railway Station, Station Square. Those are different types of facility. Check the precise location and availability with station staff before making the station your planned toilet stop.
The council also lists Changing Places toilets at Central Library on Smithford Way and The Wave on New Union Street. Its published library hours are Saturday 9:30am–4pm and Sunday 12:30pm–3:30pm. The Wave’s listed weekend hours are 9am–6pm. Recheck access, keys and opening times before your visit; these permanent facilities are outside FarGo’s event arrangements.
Ask Pride about toilets at the event itself and the route from each activity. An accessible cubicle does not necessarily have the hoist and adult changing bench provided by Changing Places. Bring your normal personal equipment and identify a second option. Allow for the journey between FarGo and a city-centre facility rather than assuming they are adjacent.
Quiet breaks and welfare
Plan breaks around the activities you want to attend and your own tolerance for crowds or amplified sound. A quieter business or outdoor corner is not a guaranteed organised sensory space. Ask whether there will be a designated quiet area, how to find it and whether it can be reached without crossing a dense audience.
Bring hearing protection if it helps and keep medication within reach. On arrival, ask where event staff and first aid can be found. Agree a simple way to communicate with your companion if speech becomes difficult. Choose a reunion location outside the busiest gathering area and allow yourself a shorter visit if that makes the day more comfortable.
Accessible transport and arrival
Avanti classifies Coventry station as Category A, with step-free access to all platforms, lifts and boarding ramps. It lists the Passenger Assist meeting point at the Customer Information Office on platform 1. Turn-up assistance is available during station opening hours, although booking is recommended. Confirm the arrangement for your train with the operator before travel.
Save a pavement route from the station to your activity, including crossings and the final entrance. For a bus connection, use Transport for West Midlands’ planner and check the vehicle access you need with the operator. For a taxi, confirm wheelchair accommodation before booking. Ask about any event-day pickup restrictions rather than assuming a car can reach the gate.
Contact and confirm
Use Coventry Pride’s official contact page to find the appropriate current channel for your enquiry. Its volunteer and press addresses have specific purposes, so do not assume either is the access desk. Request event information early enough to choose a journey and accommodation that work for you.
