2026 event — 2027 date to be confirmed

Viewing, BSL and step-free routes

Abbey Park is an outdoor site with permanent paths and festival areas that need separate consideration. The council lists level paths through most of the park. That does not establish the surface inside every arena or the route through a temporary gate. Check the next site map against the activity you want to attend.

A published organiser plan for reserved viewing, BSL interpreting, a dedicated quiet area and companion allocation was not found in the material inspected. Ask the team about these requirements before relying on a facility. Explain whether you want to watch the parade, reach the main stage or visit the market. Those journeys can involve different distances and crowd levels.

Carers and personal assistants

General festival entry was free in 2026, so a companion did not need a discounted general admission ticket. Reserved viewing or another managed facility is a separate question. Use the organiser’s contact form to ask whether an application is required and how a companion can remain beside you.

Describe the support you need in practical terms: seating, a shorter route, help at a gate or space beside a wheelchair. Ask how any agreed arrangement will be confirmed and who can help on arrival. Keep the reply with your travel information. Do not send medical documents unless the team explains a specific evidence requirement.

Accessible toilets and Changing Places

The council’s Abbey Park page lists accessible toilets near the café and a Changing Places toilet; the council also says the café itself is closed until further notice, so check the toilets are open. Its public-toilet directory also lists RADAR access at the bowling green and Pets Corner. Those are permanent park facilities, not a guarantee of event opening hours or a position inside the festival perimeter.

Confirm the facility’s route, hours and key arrangements before making it essential to your visit. A Changing Places toilet has different equipment from a standard accessible cubicle. Bring any personal equipment you normally need and allow time to reach the building. Ask whether festival fencing affects the route, and identify an alternative before travelling.

Quiet breaks and welfare

Abbey Park has a permanent sensory garden, but a garden is not an organised festival quiet space. Sound can travel from stages across an outdoor site. Choose a break plan that does not depend on a garden being open or silent. Bring hearing protection if it helps and agree with your companion when to pause.

The official 2026 festival map marked first aid and event control. Locate those points on the next map and again on arrival. If you need help, speak to staff or security rather than trying to solve everything in a dense crowd. Keep medication and your communication method reachable. A shorter visit is a valid way to enjoy the day.

Accessible transport and arrival

East Midlands Railway lists Leicester station as Category A: the main entrance is step-free and lifts serve all platforms. Train boarding ramps are available. The operator recommends arranging assistance at least two hours ahead. Its Leicester assistance meeting point is beside the information desk; confirm where to meet for your particular journey.

Check the pavement journey from the station to the Curve or park, including crossings and the final entrance. The free Arriva Pride Bus operated for the 2026 event, so ask about any future shuttle and its wheelchair space before relying on it. For driving, the council lists free Blue Badge parking in its car parks. Confirm event-day availability and the route from the space.
